—Some Natural Acne Remedies

When it comes to acne this is no longer a skin problem that teenagers have to deal with. Rather it can actually effect both children and adults alike. But because we are all becoming more aware of how important it is to care for ourselves, there are some people who are looking for ways to treat acne and not suffer from any side effects. This is why more and more people are now searching for acne natural remedies.

Treatment 1 – Aloe Vera Juice or Gel – The main reason why this is a suitable remedy for acne is of its anti-biotic properties. It is these properties which will help to fight the infection which has resulted in the acne spots or pimples forming on your skin. It is best if this is taken twice a day and normally it will take several months before you will see any improvement in the condition of your skin. It is also the anti-biotic properties in this plant which help to prevent and stop scarring of the skin.

Treatment 2 – Apple Cider Vinegar – This is a natural remedy which you can easily purchase from your grocery or local health food store. In order to treat your acne you just need to apply it to your skin using a cotton ball. It contains natural cleansing properties which help to remove dirt and bacteria from the skins pores and so reduce the chances of them becoming infected. It is also great for skin which produces excess amounts of oil which can further contribute to a person suffering from acne. Plus unlike the first treatment mentioned this one acts more quickly on treating the acne.

Treatment 3 – Cucumber – Although it is often used as a way of refreshing your eyes it is also ideal for treating acne. You can either use it in a form where it the cucumber has been peeled and then liquified before being applied to your skin directly, or you can drink the juice instead. If you choose to drink the cucumber juice you will need to do so four or five times each day for a week. The properties within this plant help to purify the blood and improve the way in which a person’s lymphatic system functions. Which results in their skin looking much clearer and cleaner.Treatment

4 – Grapefruit Seed Extract – This particular natural remedy is effective at treating acne because it contains good anti-microbial and disinfectant properties. Both of which can help to remove and kill of the bacteria which is often the cause of acne in the first place. What you need to do is mix 4-40 drops of the extract with 4 fluid ounces of water well and then apply to the affected area directly 2 to 3 times each day. The best way to apply it is by using either a cotton ball or Q-tip.Treatment 5 – Tea Tree Oil – This is another very effective way of treating acne because like other natural remedies we have mentioned it contains some good antiseptic properties. These then help to remove the dirt and bacteria which can often exacerbate the problem of acne. But unlike some of the remedies we have mentioned do not expect to see results quickly this one does take some time to help treat the problem. But unlike some of the more common over the counter treatments available it helps the skin to retain moisture rather than drying it out.Along with the natural acne remedies we have mentioned above there are plenty of others that you may want to consider trying. There are some which require you to make changes in your lifestyle and diet, but these will then help to make sure that once gone the acne will find it much more difficult to return in the future.

—A Natural Acne Remedy – Tomatoes

The tomato can be an effective natural acne remedy as it has many properties that make it kind to the skin. Tomatoes have antioxidant qualities, it can prevent skin damage at the cullar level and it can also tighten the pores of the skin which reduces the likelyhood of an acne breakout.Tomatoes are also rich in vitamin C and vitamin A, both of which make tomatoes a good natural acne remedy.

How to Use Tomatoes as a Natural Acne Remedy There are many ways in which you can use tomatoes as part of your acne treatment.

1) A very simple way is simply to cut a tomato in half and rub the cut side over the affected area. Leave the juice on for a few minutes and rinse off.

2) A more effective method is to make a proper face mask from the tomato. Take a ripe tomato, make a cross in the top and then plunge it into hot water for a few seconds. This will allow you to peel off the skin. Cut the tomato in half, discard the seeds and then mash the remaining pulp and use this as a face mask. Leave on for up to 1 hour before rinsing.

3) If working with the tomato pulp is a little awkward another alternative you can try is to mix together 1 tablespoon of fresh tomato juice with a few drops of lime juice and then apply this to the affected areas using a cotton ball. Again, leave the mixture on for a few minutes before rinsing off with some warm water.

4) Another variation on the tomato face mask is to mix together tomato juice and cucumber juice which has also been proven to be a good natural acne remedy. In fact when using home made remedies you can often combine them together in a variety of ways.

Finally, acne can leave the skin feeling very sore so you might like to try this natural acne remedy which also cools and soothes the skin. Pulp the flesh of one tomato as described earlier and then mix this with 2 tablespoons of yoghurt. Spread this over the face and relax for 20 minutes.

Treatment for Acne – 4 Herbal Aids

Treatment for acne that is more unusual may be considered by some to be old wives tales, often have a basis in fact. There is no doubt that herbal aids for most conditions, including the condition of acne have been around for a lot longer than the modern scientific marvels being used in acne treatments today.  In most instances, the treatments under the heading of herbal aids are for external application.    Here are some of the more unusual treatments that have been proposed and used over the years.  These are herbal remedies in some instances have been found to be effective through scientific study.

Milk and Lime

One of the more unusual treatment for acne recipes provides for squeezing limes for the fresh lime juice and mixing the juice to a glass of boiled milk. This mixture can then be used as a face wash to be applied directly on cracked skin or where there are blackheads, whiteheads or pimples. While the mixture sounds thoroughly repulsive, there are probably some slight benefits to the mixture in the vitamin C in the lime juice especially since the juice is freshly squeezed.  Boiled milk is obviously not going to contain bacteria so it could be considered a cleansing agent.  The acidity of the lime also acts as an antibacterial agent.

Mango

Another little known treatment for acne is that of mango.  Mangoes are useful as a dietary component to improve the bodies intake of vitamin C among other factors, but they can also be used in various ways as an herbal remedy in topical applications.  For example, a pureed mango is often used as a cooling and soothing facial mask. The freshly prepared mixture is patted onto the skin. The mixture is removed through gentle rinsing after approximately 20 to 25 minutes.

Raw Potatoes

Raw potatoes make an unusual, yet supposedly effective treatment for acne lesions. The operational theory for this type of remedy is that there are enzymes that are contained in the pulp of the raw potato.  When a potato is ground, shredded or grated and rubbed on the skin, it puts direct enzymes, starch and Vitamin C on the skin damaged by acne lesions and helps to cure the condition quickly.  The number and size of pimples, whiteheads and blackheads is significantly reduced through the use of this acne remedy. Best of all, it only requires a short time to see a significant improvement when using raw potatoes.

Almond Oil

A popular treatment for acne dry skin is that of almond oil.  The oil can be mixed with any of various other binding agents such as oatmeal, and used as a cleansing and healing mask to smooth on the skin of the face and shoulders.  A few drops of almond oil applied directly on the skin is a beneficial and inexpensive aromatherapy tool. Since such a limited amount of the oil is needed to accomplish positive results, it cannot be blamed for clogging the pores as some other types of oil products do.
